Write a Letter to the Editor!

With only weeks left until voters decide whether or not Wisconsin will permanently ban civil unions and gay marriage, we need to get our message to “Vote NO” into the media as much as possible. 

Writing letters to the editor is one of the best way to keep getting our message out and remind people to get out and “Vote NO” on November 7.

Guidelines for writing a letter

• Tell readers to VOTE NO on November 7. This is our most important message the closer we get to the election.
• Make it short and to the point. Generally, newspapers request that letters to the editor be limited to 200 words.
• Stay on message. This ban would hurt real Wisconsin families by permanently denying marriage rights to Wisconsin’s lesbian and gay couples. Furthermore, it goes too far by not only banning civil unions and marriage, but also threatening any legal protections for unmarried couples, including domestic partner benefits. • Localize your letter. Explain how the civil unions and marriage ban will directly affect you or people you know in your community.
