Join the Action Network
Fair Wisconsin Action Networks are local organizing committees comprised of community members who educate their communities about the ban.
Visit our calendar to see when the next meeting is in your community.
What does an Action Network do?
The goal of the Action Networks is to inform area voters about the ban, identify those who are on our side, and mobilize them to vote and volunteer. The ways that we do that are:
- House Parties and Coffee Hours House Parties and Coffee Hours are get-togethers organized by a host who invites their family, friends, neighbors, etc, to have fun and learn about the harms of the ban. House parties also have the dual goal of raising funds for the campaign.
- Door-to-Door Voter Contact Talking with voters door-to-door is the most crucial aspect of a campaign. We need to build a list of voters who are on our side and get them out to vote in November. For door-to-door canvasses, we organize a group of volunteers to talk with the voters in an area. We inform the voters about the ban, identify them as supportive or not, and invite supporters to volunteer.
- Events Outreach and Petitioning We want to have a presence at community events and use these events as opportunities to talk to voters about the ban. When we find supportive people, we ask them to sign the Pledge to Vote No and recruit them to volunteer.
-
Speakers Network Outreach The Fair Wisconsin Speakers Network has over 1500 trained speakers throughout the state. Action Network volunteers help get our speakers invited to local organizations and community groups to present information about the ban and its far-reaching consequences.
- Faith Community Outreach Fair Wisconsin is organizing ten regional faith community outreach committees that help congregations have conversations about the ban, using faith community forums, adult education programming, newsletter articles, etc.
- Media Monitors Local volunteers will monitor mainstream media to ensure they are covering the ban accurately, write letters to the editor at key times, and keep tabs on what our opponents are saying.
Action Networks build teams of people who are interested in working on each project. All of these projects work together and each plays a vital role in having a well-balanced and diverse system of informing the community and identifying our supporters and volunteers.
All of these projects will need a lot of volunteers who work with Action Network leaders to get the work done. It will be vital to put together a Volunteer Coordination Team to plug volunteers into the projects they are most interested in.
